DC Office of the Attorney General
Lyft Scooter Refunds
The Office of the Attorney General of the District of Columbia reached a settlement with Lyft, Inc. over allegations that Lyft failed to provide proper notice to consumers about fines the company imposed when it determined that scooters were parked improperly, between January 1, 2022 and September 7, 2022. Under the settlement, Lyft agreed to return $90,000 to fully refund affected District consumers, paid $20,000 to the District and has already made changes to its systems to ensure users are notified about DC’s scooter parking rules and notified of any fines imposed for parking violations.
District consumers who were fined for parking their Lyft scooter and did not receive proper notice of the fine, and who weren’t previously refunded directly through the app, can now claim their refund.
